What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your browser when you visit almost any website. What is useful is that the website is able to remember your visit when you return to browse that page again. What types of cookies are there?

By the length of time during which they remain active:

Session Cookies: they are a type of cookies designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are usually used to store information that is only interested in keeping for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion.

Persistent Cookies: these are a type of cookies in which the data is stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the cookie’s publisher, which may range from a few minutes to several years.

By purpose:

Technical Cookies: these are the most basic ones and, among other things, allow the website to know when a human or an automated application is browsing; when an anonymous or registered user is browsing; basic tasks for the operation of any dynamic website.

Preference Cookies: these are those that allow the user to access the service with some predefined general characteristics based on a series of criteria in the user’s terminal.

Analytical Cookies: they collect information about the type of browsing taking place, the most-used sections, which products are looked at, and time range when the site is used, language, etc.

Advertising Cookies: they show advertising based on your browsing, your country of origin, language, etc.

Behavioral Advertising Cookies: are those advertising cookies that store information about user behavior obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, in order to develop a specific profile to display advertising based on this.

What are first-party and third-party cookies?
First-party cookies are those generated by the page you are visiting, and third-party cookies are those generated by external services or providers, such as Mailchimp, Facebook, Twitter, Google Analytics, etc.
